The three types of cling film can be quickly distinguished by their heat resistance and safety:
PP Cling Film (Polypropylene): The only type that is heat-resistant (above approx. 120°C) and safe for microwave heating. Ideal for reheating and covering hot foods.
PE Cling Film (Polyethylene): Not heat-resistant; not for microwave use. It is safe and widely used for daily refrigeration, freezing, and preserving fruits, vegetables, and cold dishes.
PVC Cling Film (Polyvinyl Chloride): Not heat-resistant; strictly avoid heating. Often contains plasticizers, which may migrate when in contact with oily foods. Avoid using it for packaging oily cooked foods. Commonly seen wrapping fresh produce in supermarkets.
